Amidst the Delhi Assembly elections, a new political controversy has arisen due to a statement by BJP's national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala. Aam Aadmi Party alleges that Poonawala has insulted lakhs of Purvanchalis living in Delhi by using objectionable words against the people of Purvanchali community.

BJP MP Tiwari said in a video posted on his X handle, “Members of every party should avoid targeting anyone for caste, state or community. I strongly condemn the words said by Shehzad Poonawala (in the TV programme). No matter how much someone provokes you, the party expects its workers to remain sensitive and maintain decorum. The party will take cognizance, I am sure and I also want Shehzad Poonawala to apologise.

In a TV debate show, Aam Aadmi Party spokesperson Ruturaj Jha and BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawal tried to spoil each other's surname. AAP alleges that Shehzad Poonawala used abusive language regarding Jha surname. At the same time, Shehzad Poonawala has announced a fast, calling it a false campaign against him. He has said that until the Aam Aadmi Party apologizes for its lies, he will not accept food or water, even if he loses his life. Poonawala said that earlier he was called 'Chunawala' twice.
A debate was going on on a news channel on the issue of 'connection of Afzal loving NGO and political party in threat to Delhi schools'. During this time there was a heated argument between Rituraj Jha and Shehzad Poonawala. Both were attacking each other aggressively. During this, Rituraj Jha called Shahzad Poonawala a Chunawala twice. In response to this, BJP spokesperson also got angry and made a comment using Rituraj's surname, which Aam Aadmi Party is calling an abuse for Purvanchalis.
AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh wrote on Twitter, 'BJP is abusing Purvanchal MLA Bhai Rituraj Jha on the national channel. Maithil Brahmin community will take revenge of this abuse from BJP. This is a grave insult to the Purvanchalis. Many AAP leaders started the siege of Shehzad Poonawala and BJP with a 6-second clip. Considering the good population of Purvanchal voters in Delhi, both the parties have been trying for a long time to prove themselves as lovers of Purvanchal and the other as opponents.

After AAP's allegations, Shahzad Poonawala posted a video on X and announced that he is giving up food and water with immediate effect and will not accept it until the Aam Aadmi Party apologizes for its false allegations. Is. Poonawala said that he will go on a fast outside the office. He said that if anything happens to him, Aam Aadmi Party will be responsible for it. BJP spokesperson said that Aam Aadmi Party, which always lies and believes in abuses, is running a big false campaign against them. Giving clarification on the viral video clip, Poonawalla said that earlier twice his surname was distorted on which he made a comment, but it was not an abuse. He said that if Aam Aadmi Party has courage then show the entire video to the people. He said that Aam Aadmi Party is targeting a Pasmanda Muslim.
A large number of Purvanchalis live in Delhi
Let us tell you that out of the total 1.5 crore voters in Delhi, one third are Purvanchalis coming from eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand, which can affect the results of at least 20 assembly constituencies. Both BJP and Aam Aadmi Party are trying to woo the Purvanchali community.
