BJP releases second list for Bengal elections, names of 111 candidates

With the announcement of assembly election dates in West Bengal, political activities have intensified. In this series, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released the second list of its candidates, in which the names of a total of 111 candidates have been included. The party has expressed confidence in many new faces as well as experienced leaders in this list.

Sonapur South to Rupa Ganguly Maidan

This time BJP has also fielded famous face Roopa Ganguly. Former Rajya Sabha MP Roopa Ganguly has been made the candidate from Sonapur South Assembly seat. Whereas, former MP Arjun Singh has been given ticket from Noapara seat, where he will contest the elections on behalf of the party. Apart from this, the party has made a change in its first list and declared Viswajit Khan as the candidate from Bishnupur (reserved) seat. Earlier, Agnishwar Naskar was given ticket from this seat, but now the party has made strategic changes and put forward a new name.

BJP has also adopted a special strategy regarding Joypur seat. The party has announced its support to Biswajit Mahato, who will contest the elections as a BJP-backed candidate. It is clear from this that the party wants to strengthen its position on some seats through the strategy of alliance and support.

On the other hand, Trinamool Congress (TMC) has also already announced its candidates for 291 seats, making the electoral contest in the state more interesting. This time, tough competition can be seen on many seats, but the most discussion is being done about Bhawanipur seat.

Mamata Banerjee in the fray from Bhawanipur seat

This time, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has decided to contest elections from Bhawanipur seat instead of Nandigram. At the same time, there is a possibility of his direct contest with BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari. Political analysts believe that this contest will not be limited to just one assembly seat, but it can become a real test of the state’s power and political supremacy.

Actually, the political conflict between Mamata Banerjee and Suvendu Adhikari started with the 2021 assembly elections. At that time, Mamata Banerjee had left her traditional Bhawanipur seat and contested the elections from Nandigram, where she had to face defeat. However, he later retained the post of Chief Minister by winning the Bhawanipur by-election. Now once again the possible contest between the two leaders on Bhawanipur seat has increased the temperature of the state’s politics and it is being seen as a battle of prestige.
