BJP vs TMC: Whose government will be formed in Bengal? New survey changed the electoral equation

Kolkata. The politics of West Bengal is once again at an interesting juncture. A new opinion poll that has come out regarding the upcoming assembly elections has given a big indication about the picture of power. According to the survey, Mamata Banerjee-led TMC may once again return to power, but this time there may be some decline in seats.

TMC gets majority, but seats may decrease

According to the latest survey of VoteVibe, TMC is expected to get around 174 to 184 seats in the 294-seat assembly. 148 seats are required for majority, in such a situation TMC can easily form the government. However, there are also indications of reduction in seats as compared to 2021, when the party had registered a landslide victory by winning 215 seats.

BJP’s position seemed to be getting stronger

The survey has shown signs of improvement in BJP’s performance. It is estimated that BJP may get 108 to 118 seats, which shows a better situation than the previous survey. This indicates that the party may emerge as a strong opposition this time.

Congress-Left parties marginalized

The situation does not look particularly encouraging for Congress and Left parties. The survey has estimated only 0 to 4 seats including these parties, which clearly shows that the main contest is becoming limited between TMC and BJP.

Regional equations are also important

The competition is presenting a different picture according to the areas. BJP seems to be gaining in Midnapore region, while TMC continues to dominate in areas like Presidency and Malda. These areas can play a decisive role in the final results.

Mamata ahead on Chief Minister’s face

If we talk about the preferred face for the post of Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee is still at the forefront. He got 46.4% support in the survey, while BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari got the support of 34.9% people. Other leaders were seen far behind.

What are the issues of voters in Bengal?

According to the survey, the biggest issue in the state is unemployment and development, which was given priority by 35.1% people. After this come issues like law and order, women’s safety, inflation and voter list. There was also a mixed response regarding schemes related to youth, where 53.6% people did not consider them adequate.
