BJP’s big bet in Tamil Nadu elections, first list of 27 candidates released, many veterans got opportunity
digital desk- Political activities have intensified regarding Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Bharatiya Janata Party has released its first list of 27 candidates on Friday. This list, which came amid ongoing discussions regarding seat sharing with NDA allies, is being seen as the party’s strategy for expansion in South India. By fielding many big and famous faces in this list, BJP has clearly indicated that it is adopting an aggressive strategy to strengthen its presence in Tamil Nadu. Union Minister L. Murugan has been made the candidate from Avinashi seat reserved for Scheduled Castes, while former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Sundarajan has been given the ticket from the high-profile Mylapore seat.
Former state president’s name missing in the first list
However, a big name is missing in this list. Former state president of Tamil Nadu BJP K. Annamalai has not been included in this first list. It is being told that Annamalai wanted to contest from Coimbatore (North) seat, but the party has fielded Vanathi Srinivasan, who is currently the MLA from Coimbatore (South). In this first list of BJP, candidates have been selected keeping in mind various areas and social equations. M. Rajasimha Mahindra (M. Ashwinkumar) from Avadi, Dr. Tamilisai Sundararajan from Mylapore, Nagesh Kumar from Thalli, C. Elumalai from Tiruvannamalai and Dr. S.D. from Rasipuram (SC). Premkumar has been made the candidate.
Manamadurai to Pon. V. Balganapathi gets a chance
Similarly, Mrs. Keerthika Shivakumar from Modakkurichi, Bhojrajan from Udhagamandalam, Dr. L. from Avinashi (SC). Murugan and S from Tiruppur (South). Thangaraj will be in the electoral fray. Vanathi Srinivasan from Coimbatore (North), Govi Chandru from Tiruvarur and M. Muruganandan from Thanjavur have been given tickets. C. Udayakumar from Gandharvakottai (SC), N. from Pudukottai. Ramachandran, Mrs. Kavitha Srikanth from Aranthangi and K.C. from Tiruppattur. Thirumaran has also been made a candidate. Manamadurai (SC) to Pon. V. Balaganapathi, Prof. from Madurai South. Rama Srinivasan and Nainar Nagenthran from Sattur will contest. Apart from this, GBS from Ramanathapuram. Of. Nagendran, KRM Radhakrishnan from Tiruchendur, Ananth Ayyasamy from Vasudevanallur (SC), S.P. Radhapuram. Balakrishnan and M.R. from Nagercoil. Gandhi has been given the ticket. T. Shivakumar from Colachel, P. Ramesh from Padmanabhapuram and Smt. S. Vijayadharani from Vilavancode will also be the party candidates.
