BJP’s ‘Mission Bengal’ intensified, separate plan ready for 85 Muslim dominated seats
K News Desktop- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has finalized its election strategy for the upcoming assembly elections in West Bengal. This time the party is entering the fray by learning from the experience of 2019 Lok Sabha and 2021 Assembly elections. BJP is trying to maintain the lead it got last time and not repeat the strategic mistakes made earlier.
According to party sources, BJP will contest elections aggressively on all the assembly seats in the state, but special tactical strategy will be adopted on Muslim dominated seats. Party leaders believe that Trinamool Congress (TMC) has a strong hold among minority voters, hence time and resources will be used wisely on these seats.
In fact, election results on about 70 to 85 seats in West Bengal are decided by the influence of Muslim voters. In the last assembly elections, Trinamool Congress had won about 75 of these seats, which include districts like Malda, Murshidabad, Birbhum, North Dinajpur and South 24 Parganas.
BJP has planned to campaign and manage elections strategically on these seats. At the same time, the party will run an aggressive campaign in seats dominated by Hindu voters, in which the issues of welfare schemes, employment opportunities and better law and order for Bengal and Bengali speakers will be prominent.
Keeping in mind the geographical and political equations, BJP has also made its strategy region wise. In North Bengal, the party is trying to consolidate its support among Rajbhanshi voters, tea garden workers and other communities. Districts like Siliguri, Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar and Alipurduar fall in this region.
Whereas in the central regions of the state—Howrah, Hooghly, Purulia, Bardhaman and Medinipur—BJP has strengthened its hold during the last two elections. However, South Bengal is still considered a big challenge for the party. This area includes North and South 24 Parganas and the old Presidency area of Kolkata.
BJP has been trying to increase its base here among the Matua, Namasudra community and Hindu refugees for the last few years, so that the party’s position can be strengthened in South Bengal in the upcoming elections.
