BJP’s stance changed after the loss due to rebels in civic elections, now preparations for reconciliation after show-cause
Ranchi: In the municipal elections in Jharkhand, the party suffered a big loss due to the rebels contesting against the candidates supported by BJP. After the election results are out, BJP is now adopting a soft stance against those rebels. After the victory of the rebel candidates at many places, the respective district heads welcomed them by garlanding them. State General Secretary Pradeep Verma also congratulated such winning candidates on social media. BJP MLA from Dhanbad Raj Sinha came to congratulate Sanjeev Singh who won the mayor’s post in Dhanbad and he himself ate sweets from Sanjeev Singh and congratulated him. Its picture went viral on social media.

These developments indicate that BJP is now preparing to end this episode. However, it is not clear whether the amnesty will be limited to only the winning candidates or relief will be given to all the leaders to whom the party had issued show-cause notices. Any official seems to be avoiding speaking officially on this issue. But churning continues within the organization. There is discussion that now preparations are being made to move forward on the lines of the past.

The victory of the rebels even on the post of Municipal Corporation Mayor raised questions on the party’s strategy. Arvind Rana in Hazaribagh and Sanjeev Singh in Dhanbad won, leaving BJP-backed candidates behind by huge margins. At both these places, the party candidates were not effective in the contest from beginning to end. Rebel party worker Baba Baliase is believed to have played an important role in defeating BJP-backed Rita Chaurasia in Deoghar. Some party leaders say that only Baliase should have been given support. Similarly, in Pakur, an agreement was first reached to support the name of Sabari Pal, but later he was sidelined. Ultimately Sabri Pal won. Tarun Gupta was also successful in making his wife win in Jamtara.
More than 140 people of the state including Ranchi are stranded in Dubai, fear of something untoward is haunting them due to Iran-Israel-America war.
BJP leaders have admitted that there were mistakes in supporting the candidates at some places. Ignoring the opinions of workers proved costly. Should have supported the mayor candidates of the party and should have kept distance from the elections for the post of Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat President. At present the challenge before the party is to maintain organizational unity. Now the indication is that the focus will be on further strategy.
