Reacting to this incident, BKU District President Naveen Rathi said that efforts are being made to suppress the farmers’ movement. He said that the farmers of Odisha are struggling on important issues like water, forest and land. He also said that the top leadership of BKU is discussing the matter and the entire situation is being monitored. If necessary, a movement can be started against this.
This arrest has taken place at a time when farmers’ issues are once again in the news across the country. BKU (BKU) and other farmer organizations have been raising their voice on various demands. Rakesh Tikait’s arrest is being seen as an attempt to weaken the farmers’ movement, which has led to discontent among farmers’ organizations.
