Black market in full swing in LPG Gas shortage; 62 illegal cylinders seized in raids in Delhi

Common people were hit by gas shortage. A crowd has gathered outside the agency due to non-availability of gas. But due to this, those who sell gas for extra money by storing it are flourishing. The police system is keeping an eye on this. Delhi Police has busted one such gas black market in Jamianagar area. Also, the investigation has revealed that these LPG gas cylinders are illegal. Police arrested one person in this action.

Jamia Nagar police station has arrested an accused who was bringing cylinders from Uttar Pradesh and selling them in Delhi at a high price. Police recovered 62 LPG cylinders from the spot, of which 48 were full and 14 were empty. On March 16, while a police team was patrolling, a Tata S car was spotted parked suspiciously in the Jamia Nagar area. A large number of cylinders were filled in the car. When the driver was asked, he could not produce any valid document. Later, when the vehicle was searched, 62 cylinders were seized.

Illegal supply from Meerut to Delhi

Investigation revealed that the accused was selling cylinders at high prices without receipt. He used to bring cylinders from Meerut (Uttar Pradesh) and supply them to Jamia Nagar. According to the police, the accused had brought and sold approximately 70 cylinders only a day before. The name of the vehicle owner Mukesh, with whom this illegal business was being run, also came up in this entire network. Police are now looking for Mukesh.

The arrested accused has been identified as Shahnawaz (age 28), resident of Joga Bai Extension in Jamia Nagar and originally from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Police investigation revealed that he came in contact with Mukesh about two months ago, after which he started this illegal activity.
