Blake Lively Bashed by Sony Execs Over It Ends With Us Lawsuits, Ryan Reynolds Fires Back

Some Sony Pictures executives have been caught bashing Blake Lively in regard to the It Ends With Us legal battle drama.

Some text and email conversations regarding the It Ends With Us legal battle have now been made public following the scandal that erupted in 2024 between Lively and Justin Baldoni. Both Lively and Baldoni star in the movie that adapts Colleen Hoover’s 2016 novel, while Baldoni also directed it.

What did the Sony execs and Ryan Reynolds say about the Blake Lively It Ends With Us lawsuits?

Per Varietyseveral executives have now been caught bashing Lively in these now-public messages.

Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group President Sandford Panitch said in August 2024 in regard to the situation when Lively had Baldoni banned from the red carpet of the film’s New York premiere, “She did it to herself. If she just let him come to the premiere, or didn’t make all the cast unfollow him or kick him off the movie, and did what everyone ever has done in show business for time and memorial which is protect ‘the show’ then none of the sleuthing would have happened.”

The “sleuthing” refers to the non-stop coverage and social media investigations that began after the scandal started.

Panitch also said of Lively’s decision to launch a haircare and alcohol marketing campaigns during the It Ends With Us press tour, “The hair sell at the same time was epic level stupid. She wouldn’t listen. She knows better.”

Sony Pictures CEO Tom Rothman said that Lively didn’t deserve all the heat that she got; however, he did also say in an email, “She did bring it all on herself by refusing to listen to advice…and by selling her products.”

Sony Pictures Entertainment Executive Vice President and Chief Communications Officer Tahra Grant said in August 2024, “She orchestrated all this drama in a totally unsavvy and amateur way (and basically threatened…Sony) and now is mad it backfired on her.” Meanwhile, Ange Gianetti, a Sony Pictures executive who was overseeing the movie, referred to Lively as a “terrorist.”

Ryan Reynolds, who is married to Lively and is involved in the legal situation, fired back against these comments. The documents show that the Deadpool star called the Sony executives “f—ing textbook, ineffectual elderly people with no ideas or thoughtful communication skills. Just blunt instruments with six catchphrases and about 5 key words.”
