Blinkit removes ’10-minute delivery’ claim; Swiggy, Zomato to remove strict delivery time limits

New Delhi: After the intervention of Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Blinkit has removed the 10-minute delivery limit from all its brands. This comes after unions had stepped in and more than a lakh gig workers went on strike to protest against the 10 to 20-minute service delivery system be immediately withdrawn to prioritise worker safety.

Mandaviya spoke to officials from Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy, and Zomato regarding this issue and urged them to remove the delivery time limit. All the companies assured the government that they will remove the delivery deadline from their brand ads on social media.

The Union minister held a meeting with leading platforms including Blinkit, Zepto, Zomato and Swiggy to address the concerns related to strict delivery time limits. During the meeting, Blinkit agreed to do away with the 10 minute delivery system and also acted on the directive swiftly.
Other aggregators like Zepto, Swiggy and Zomato have also assured to follow suit in the coming days. The removal of strict timely delivery is aimed at ensuring greater safety, security and improved working conditions for gig workers.
After removing the 10-minute delivery tagline, Blinkit has also updated its brand messaging on its platforms.  The old tagline was “10,000+ products delivered in 10 minutes”, now, it states – “30,000+ products delivered at your doorstep.”
