Mourning in the cricket world, veteran player loses younger brother; shared an emotional post
A very sad news has come out from the cricket world, which has made the fans and players emotional. A wave of mourning has spread to the house of Zimbabwe cricket team captain and star all-rounder Sikandar Raza. His 13 year old younger brother Muhammad Mahdi has passed away. This news, which came just before the New Year, has shocked everyone.
Sikander Raza is recognized among the best T20 all-rounders in the world. He has left his mark not only in international cricket but also in big leagues like IPL. Recently he was a part of the International League T20 being played in UAE, but this deep shock in his personal life has left him and his family shattered.
Sikander Raza’s younger brother passes away in Harare
Muhammad Mahdi, younger brother of Sikander Raza, died on December 29, 2025 in Harare. He was born with a rare blood disorder called hemophilia, in which there is difficulty in blood clotting. Due to complications related to the disease, his condition kept worsening and finally he said goodbye to this world. He was laid to rest the next day at Warren Hills Cemetery.
Zimbabwe Cricket Board expressed condolences
On this sad occasion, Zimbabwe Cricket Board shared an official post through social media. Expressing deep condolences to Sikander Raza and his family, the board wrote that the entire cricket family stands with them in this difficult time. The post also wished strength and peace for the family. Teammates, former cricketers and fans also expressed sympathy for Raza on social media.
Strong career reflected in figures
Sikander Raza has so far played 22 Tests, 153 ODIs and 127 T20 International matches for Zimbabwe. In Test cricket, he has scored 1434 runs and taken 40 wickets. He has 4476 runs and 94 wickets in his name in ODIs. In T20 International, Raza has scored 2883 runs and taken 102 wickets. Apart from this, he has also been playing in many franchise leagues of the world, where due to his all-round ability, he is considered the first choice of the teams.
