Finally Andre Russell broke his silence, told- ‘Why did you decide to retire from IPL?’

Recently, the veteran all-rounder spoke about his shocking decision, mentioning the difficulties of playing in the world’s biggest T20 league. Russell spoke about the challenges of giving his best as an all-rounder throughout the season and said this was one of the reasons why he decided to retire from the league.

“Absolutely. It depends on the number of matches and the travel. You have to make sure that you recover as much as you can so that you stay fresh and take care of your body, manage your practice sessions and your workload in the gym. You definitely have to practise, you have to go to the gym, but you also have to make sure that you don’t overdo it. In a big league like IPL, as an all-rounder, I have a lot of things to do,” Russell told Cricbuzz. “It’s always been challenging. I can only speak for myself because batting, bowling and then making sure you do some catching and fielding, it’s always difficult. I just think this league is so big that you always want to make sure you have your best performance.”

Speaking further, Russell said, “I never thought about it, because I feel that my batting complements my bowling and my bowling complements my batting. I always think about bowling at least two overs in a game. I feel that if I am bowling well, then my batting will automatically be good and that is very important for me. If I had been only a batsman from the beginning of my career, then perhaps I would have had a tough time in my career and the rest. I think about everything that way, but I can’t see myself just being an impact player or just batting and hitting sixes. I have to do what I love, which is both batting and bowling.”
