Yashasvi Jaiswal will be targeting this great record, can create history in the second test

Yashasvi Jaiswal Sixes Record Alert: Indian cricket team's opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal has been making a splash since his debut in international cricket. In the recently concluded first Test against Bangladesh, he also demonstrated his ability by scoring a brilliant half-century in difficult conditions.

This young left-handed batsman has been an important pillar of India's batting lineup in all formats for the last two years. His performance in the Test series against England earlier this year was particularly noteworthy, where he scored more than 700 runs. After Bangladesh, the Indian team also has to play Test series against New Zealand and Australia, in such a situation Jaiswal will be a very important player for the Indian team. Jaiswal will also have a chance to break many records in the upcoming matches, but at present he has the second Test against the Bangladeshi team where he can make a big record in his name.

Whatever the format, Jaiswal is an expert in hitting sixes and he also showed this during the England series. Jaiswal was in explosive form and hit 26 sixes in the Test series against England, taking his total to 42 sixes in all formats this year. Jaiswal is now just eight sixes away from becoming the first batsman in the world to hit 50 sixes in a calendar year in Test playing countries. If he achieves this feat in the second Test, it will be a great achievement.

Currently, only Hong Kong's Babar Hayat has reached the milestone, hitting 50 sixes in 2024. However, there is a race for the record, with Australia's Travis Head and Afghanistan's Rahmanullah Gurbaz also close to the 50 sixes mark. Both players are currently in action representing their respective teams against England and South Africa. While Jaiswal will next take the field for India in the second Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur on September 27, Head and Gurbaz could potentially reach the milestone before him.

If Jaiswal manages to hit eight more sixes in the second Test, he will not only become the first Indian to hit 50 sixes in 2024. But he will also break the record for hitting the most sixes in a calendar year in Test cricket. The current record is held by former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum, who hit 33 sixes in 2014. Jaiswal, who hit 26 sixes in Test cricket this year, is just eight sixes away from surpassing McCullum and creating a new record for hitting the most sixes in a year in the longest format. In such a situation, every Indian is waiting to see long sixes from Yashasvi's bat.
