Sri Lanka team announced for South Africa test series, bowler who played last test two and a half years ago is also in the team

South Africa vs Sri Lanka Test 2024: Sri Lanka has announced a 17-member squad for the two-Test series against South Africa. Spinner Lasith Embuldeniya is part of the team, who played his last Test match in July 2022. Fast bowler Kasun Rajitha has also been included in the team. Both the players have been selected in the team in place of all-rounder Ramesh Mendis and left-arm spinner Jeffrey Vandersay. Rajitha was part of the Sri Lankan team that won the series 2-0 in South Africa in 2019

The batting consists of Pathum Nishanka, Dimuth Karunaratne, Oshada Fernando and Kusal Mendis, Dinesh Chandimal and Sadira Samarawickrama. Apart from captain Dhananjay de Silva, the all-rounders include Kamindu Mendis, Angelo Mathews and Milan Ratnayake. The fast bowling consists of Vishwa Fernando, Asitha Fernando, Lahiru Kumara and Rajitha. In spin bowling, Prabhat Jayasuriya, Nishan Peiris and Lasith Embuldeniya are there.

The Sri Lankan team will leave for South Africa on 22 November. The first match of the series will be played at Kingsmead in Durban from 27 November and the second Test will be played at Georges Park in Gqweberha from 5 December. This series is important for both the teams from the point of view of the World Test Championship 2023-25 ​​final. At present, in the World Test Championship points table, Sri Lanka is at third position and South Africa is at fifth position.
