Mohammed Shami's return to Team India is certain, he will be seen playing in this series before the Champions Trophy.
Fast bowler Mohammed Shami, who is out of the Indian cricket team, is ready to return to Team India. He may make a comeback to international cricket during the upcoming white-ball series against England before the Champions Trophy. His fitness and form against England will open the way for him to play in the Champions Trophy 2025.
Shami last played for India in the 2023 ODI World Cup final, after which he underwent surgery and due to which he had to stay out of the field for a long time. According to a report in Cricbuzz, the National Cricket Academy medical team is keeping a close eye on Shami. After the surgery, there was slight swelling in his knee, due to which he could not play in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Currently, he is part of Bengal's Vijay Hazare Trophy campaign and is set to play the pre-quarterfinal against Haryana on Thursday. The report said that at least one physio or trainer from the NCA has accompanied the fast bowler. BCCI selection committee members are also expected to attend the Vijay Hazare Trophy knockout matches in Baroda and take note of Shami's performance. It is being said that there has been no significant impact on his bowling and there is no major problem in his knee either.
However, Shami will need the green signal from the NCA to return to the Indian team. Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is also waiting for the NCA report. Bumrah, who performed brilliantly in the Australia tour, suffered a back injury during the final Test in Sydney, due to which he could not bowl on the last day and India had to face a 3-1 defeat in the series. Like Shami, he will also need approval from NCA.
