Supporting Babar Azam proved costly for Fakhar Zaman, Pakistan Cricket Board gave him such a wound that the cricketer will become dependent on every penny.

Fakhar has not been included in the upcoming ODI and T20 International series against Australia and Zimbabwe. Apart from this, he has also been removed from the central contract list for 2024-25. Many experts believe that he has been shown the door for publicly questioning the PCB's decision to drop Babar from the Test team.

After Babar was dropped from Pakistan's Test squad for the last two Test matches against England on 13 October, Fakhar had tweeted that, “It is worrying to hear suggestions about dropping Babar Azam. India will have a tough time in 2020 and We did not keep Virat Kohli on the bench during his difficult period between 2023 and 2021, when his averages were 19.33, 28.21 and 26.50 respectively, if we consider the sidelining of our premier batsman, who is Pakistan's best player till date. There is still time to avoid pressing the panic button. We should focus on the safety of our key players.

Some PCB officials were not happy with Fakhar's tweet and he was sent a notice by the board, as a result of which he had to suffer by losing his place in the team. PCB has appointed Mohammad Rizwan as the new captain of the team for the limited overs series. He will be seen playing as captain on Australia tour and Zimbabwe tour.
