Indian women's team announced against New Zealand Women, Harmanpreet remains captain, this star player is out

On Thursday, October 17, the BCCI announced the Indian Women's 16-member squad for the three-match ODI series against New Zealand Women. After the poor performance in the World Cup 2024, Harmanpreet Kaur's captaincy was under threat. However, he has been retained as captain.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Richa Ghosh has not been included in the ODI team. This is because she will appear for the Class 12 board exams. Asha Shobhana and Pooja Vastrakar will also not be able to play in the ODI series against New Zealand. Pooja has been rested, while Shobhana is out due to injury. Asha was initially selected in India's playing eleven ahead of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 match against Australia at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Sunday, October 13, but she injured her knee.

The BCCI said, “Richa Ghosh was not available for selection due to her Class 12 board exams. Asha Shobhana is currently suffering from an injury and was not available for selection. Pooja Vastrakar has been rested for the series. ” Star players Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma, Jemimah Rodrigues and Shreyanka Patil have been included in the squad for the ODI series against New Zealand while Yastika Bhatia and Uma Chhetri are the two wicket-keeping options.
