R Ashwin created a ruckus with his statement, said – ‘I cannot express my disappointment like Nathan Lyon’

Ashwin said that Nathan Lyon was lucky to get a platform to express his frustrations, but he could never have done that. It is noteworthy that Lyon was dropped from the Australian XI for the pink-ball Test against England in the ongoing Ashes series in Brisbane. When asked by sports journalist Vimal Kumar how he felt after watching Nathan Lyon’s frank interview during the second Ashes Test that ended on December 7, Ashwin remained silent for a few seconds.

After this, the veteran Indian off-spinner spoke his mind and said that if he had spoken openly like Lion, he would have been in trouble and said that when a player is out of the playing eleven, he feels sad. Ashwin said, “Nathan Lyon is lucky. If anyone is dropped from the team, the feelings will be the same as Lyon expressed to the world. He got the platform to express his views and that is what he did. The Australian team will not feel bad, and they will play the Adelaide Test. I am just happy for them.”

Speaking further, Ashwin said, “People have emotions and they will do the same. However, I cannot express my emotions because if I do, I will be harmed and only I will be harmed. So why would I do that? However, I really respect Nathan Lyon. He brought out his emotions. Well done.”

Lyon’s interview after being dropped from Australia’s playing XI went viral, as the off-spinner said he was “feeling very bad” after being dropped from the XI for a home Test for the first time since 2012.
