Blue Lock Season 3: Release window, cast updates and what we know so far
The egoists are officially stepping onto the global stage. Following the explosive clash against Japan’s U-20 national team, the hit sports anime is gearing up for its highly anticipated next phase, which promises to completely blow open the stakes of the experiment.
As part of the annual “Blue Lock Day” celebrations, the production committee dropped a massive wave of updates for the upcoming third chapter. Here is absolutely everything we know so far about the future of the series.
Release Window and Production Status
While an exact calendar premiere date has not been locked in by the studio, Blue Lock Season 3 is officially in active production at studio Eight Bit.
Following the heavy fan criticism regarding the stiff, rushed animation quality of Season 2 (which many fans affectionately compared to a PowerPoint presentation), the production committee appears to be taking their time. Rather than rushing out a continuation to ride the wave of immediate hype, the studio is adjusting the pipeline to give the complex, high-energy football choreography the meticulous detail it deserves.
The Subtitle and Plot: Welcome to the Neo Egoist League
The official title for the continuation has been locked in as Blue Lock: Neo Egoist League.
The narrative engine for Season 3 leaves the confines of the isolated Japanese training facility to merge with the absolute peak of international football. Following their historic, high-profile victory over the U-20 team, Jinpachi Ego is launching a brand-new, hyper-radical phase to prepare the survivors for the upcoming U-20 World Cup.
The remaining egoists will be divided and forced to train under the banners of Europe’s top five powerhouse football clubs (representing England, Spain, Italy, France, and Germany). Yoichi Isagi, now an overnight national sensation after scoring the game-winning goal against the U-20 squad, will have to rapidly adapt to a hostile environment where he is no longer just competing against local peers—he is fighting for survival against the absolute best young talent the European continent has to offer.
Cast Updates: Introducing the Crown Jewel of Germany
The core voice cast who anchored the psychological warfare of the first two seasons will be reprising their roles, led by Kazuki Ura as Yoichi Isagi.
However, the biggest headline for Season 3 is the arrival of the story’s next massive psychological and mechanical foil:
Mamoru Miyano (Death Note, Demon Slayer) has officially joined the voice cast as Michael Kaiser.
Kaiser is introduced as the absolute ace forward of Bastard München—Germany’s strongest club team, which also happens to house the current number-one striker in the world, Noel Noa. Recognized globally as a member of the prestigious “New Generation World XI” (the eleven best young players on Earth), Kaiser possesses an overwhelming, fiercely arrogant ego. He looks down brutally on lesser opponents, matching his extreme narcissism with elite ball control, unmatched physical capability, and a devastating shooting technique that will immediately position him as Isagi’s ultimate, most dangerous rival yet.
Franchise Milestones: The announcement arrives as the original manga by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura hits a monumental milestone, officially crossing over 60 million copies in circulation worldwide. While waiting for the anime’s return, a live-action film adaptation is also set to hit theaters in Japan later this August.
