Bluesky is testing a trending topics feature
Social network Bluesky said on Christmas that it is testing a trending topics view. The trending topics are visible both on the desktop and mobile apps of the social network for users across the world.
On the desktop, you can see trending topics on the right sidebar, and on the mobile apps, you can tap on the search button to look at them.
Bluesky said trending topics are currently available only in English. Users can disable trending topics by going to Settings > Content and Media and then unchecking the “Enable trending topics” option.
Bluesky is making sure content you don’t want to see will not be visible in the trending topics — muted words are carried over, so if any words or phrases on your muted list won’t appear in trending topics.
The social network, which now has more than 25 million users, said this is just the first version of the feature and intends to improve on it.
While Bluesky has just introduced the trending topics feature, third-party Bluesky clients like Greysky already implemented it last year.
Bluesky’s rival Threads started rolling out trending topics to all U.S. users in March and began testing the feature in Japan in October.
