‘Dynasticism’ in ticket distribution, three candidates from the same family, more than 40 leaders made an impact
The nomination process for the BMC Election, which is counted among the richest municipal corporations of the country, has been completed. During this period, political turmoil has intensified in Mumbai. ‘Familyism’ has come to the fore in the election field of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). According to State Election Commission (SEC) data, 2,516 nominations have been seen for 227 BMC seats.

If everything is added together, more than 40 leaders of different parties have used their influence. He has fielded his family members in the election field. There is a tinge of nepotism in the distribution of tickets before the voting on January 15. There has been a debate on this.

This time in Mumbai, tickets have been distributed on the basis of family relationships. Around 43 leaders have secured tickets for their children, wives, siblings and even distant relatives. BJP MLA Rahul Narvekar and Congress MLA Aslam Shaikh are the topics of discussion in this list. He has secured 3-3 tickets in his family.
After this comes the name of NCP leader Nawab Malik. Whose family also has three members in the fray. In many cases, experienced and senior party workers have also been ignored.
Importance to relatives of many leaders
In the matter of opposing dynasty politics, BJP has also given importance to the relatives of many leaders. Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar’s brother Makrand Narvekar (Ward 226) is in the fray. While his sister-in-law Harshita Narvekar (Ward 225) and cousin sister Dr. Gauravi Shivalkar (Ward 227) are in the electoral fray.
Neil Somaiya, son of former MP Kirit Somaiya, has even won unopposed from Ward 107 of Mulund (West). The nomination of the opposition candidate was canceled on technical grounds. Among other BJP candidates, Praveen Darekar’s brother Prakash Darekar is standing from Ward 3. Mumbai BJP President Amit Satam’s brother-in-law is contesting from Ward 68.
