BMC elections: Mahayuti’s ‘seat-formula’ ready, consensus reached on 99% seats, final seal to be taken tonight

Mumbai, 27 December. The seat formula for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections in the BJP-led ruling alliance Mahayuti is almost finalized and an agreement has been reached on 99 percent of the seats between the BJP, Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and the Ajit Pawar faction’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Giving this information today, Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Ram Kadam said that 100 percent work will be completed by late night.

Speaking to the media, Ram Kadam said, ‘Regarding the BMC elections, it has been decided that we will contest the elections under the alliance. We will work together with Shiv Sena and RPI. He also claimed that on the basis of development we will win the BMC elections.

The BJP MLA said that several meetings have also been held with grassroots level workers regarding the elections. It is not important who is contesting or not contesting from where. The important thing is which candidate contests the elections, who gets public support and wins. He said, ‘We are selecting such candidates. For this, talks will be finalized by night. Soon the candidates will also be announced by Mahayuti.

It is noteworthy that a round of meetings is going on in Mahayuti on seat sharing regarding BMC elections. For the second consecutive day, a meeting of the Coordinating Committee of Mahayuti was called at Rang Sharda Hotel in Bandra. Mumbai BJP President Amit Satam, Minister Ashish Shelar and MLAs Prasad Lad and Praveen Darekar were also present in it.

Names will be declared on 30th December

However, amid talks of NCP, which is part of the grand alliance in the state assembly, contesting the elections alone, the party has called its meeting regarding the BMC elections. NCP leader Sunil Dattatreya Tatkare said, ‘Meetings have been held with different leaders in the last three days. The results of this meeting have already been informed to Ajit Pawar and by the evening of 30th December it will be clear on how many seats NCP will contest. The final list will be declared on December 30 at 3 pm.
