Luxury car manufacturer Lexus has launched its new ES 500e Electric sedan Introduced in India. This is the first electric car introduced by the company in the Indian market. Previously, the ES model was only available in a hybrid version; However, now electric option is also available for customers.

Soon the hybrid version of this car will be launched at a later stage. This car can rule the electric sedan segment single-handedly, as it currently has no direct competition.

Battery, range and power

The Lexus ES 500e is fitted with a 74.68 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The company claims that this car can cover a distance of approximately 580 kilometers on a full charge. It is an ‘all-wheel drive’ (AWD) vehicle, with a dual-motor setup. Both these motors together produce a combined power of approximately 343 bhp and a torque of 438 Nm.

More sporty and modern design

The design of the new Lexus ES 500e is completely different from its predecessor, giving it a more sporty look. With a length of 5145 mm, this car carves its position as a luxury sedan. Its slightly downward-sloping roof design gives it a sportier profile, while its 158mm ‘ground clearance’ makes it highly suited to Indian road conditions.

Interior and features

The interior of this car is very premium and futuristic. It features a large 14-inch touchscreen display, digital rear-view mirror and a panoramic glass roof. Additionally, it gets features like 3-zone climate control, ‘head-up display’ (HUD), sunshades and an automatic boot-lid.

Along with this car, the company is also offering an 8-year warranty, a ‘buyback’ scheme and an 11 kW AC charger.

It is important to mention that Lexus will also be launching a hybrid version of this car soon. The variant is expected to feature a combination of a 2.5-litre petrol engine and an electric motor. For those who don’t want to buy a fully electric vehicle, this hybrid version will be a great option.
