BMW Launches M2 CS Sports Car At Rs 1.66 Crore In India

BMW launched the new M2 CS in India. This is the track-focused version of BMW’s smallest M car, and it has been launched at Rs 1.66 crore, ex-showroom. For reference, the regular BMW M2 in the Indian market costs Rs 1.02 crore, ex-showroom. The BMW M2 CS, like most sports cars, will be sold as a CBU and will be offered in limited numbers only. As mentioned above, this is a much more performance-oriented version of the regular M2 available in our market.

Design

On the outside, the exterior design of the M2 CS is similar to the regular version. However, if you look closely, you will find differentiating elements. The front grille, for example, is slightly different and has been designed in such a way that more air can flow into the engine. The front bumper looks similar but now comes with a splitter.

As we move to the side, your attention is drawn towards the forged alloy wheels finished in gold. The 2-door sports car gets 19-inch wheels at the front and 20-inch wheels at the rear. BMW is also offering M2 CS customers an option to opt for track tyres at no extra cost.

Moving to the rear, we see an integrated ducktail spoiler. The tailgate and the spoiler are made from carbon fibre, which reduces weight. As we move lower, we notice a diffuser at the bottom of the rear bumper along with new quad-tip exhausts finished in matte black.

Interior

BMW is offering the M2 CS in Black Sapphire, Portimao Blue, Brooklyn Grey, and Velvet Blue shades. On the inside, the M2 CS gets carbon-fibre bucket seats wrapped in leather upholstery finished in signature M colours. It also gets a lot of carbon-fibre trim on the centre console, dashboard, and door pads. The steering wheel is chunky and finished in Alcantara. Although it is a track-focused model, it does not compromise on creature comforts. It offers premium features like a 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a parking assistant, black Merino leather upholstery, and more.

Compared to the standard M2, the CS gets several carbon fibre components like the boot lid and roof, which result in weight reduction. The M2 CS is around 30 kg lighter than the regular version. It is 8 mm lower than the standard M2 and also gets M-specific tuning for the suspension, dampers, and chassis control system.

Engine

The BMW M2 CS is powered by the same 3.0-litre inline-six twin-turbocharged engine. The engine has been reworked, and it now gets stiffer engine mounts, producing 530 hp and 650 Nm—50 hp and 50 Nm more than the regular M2. This engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard, and power is sent to the rear wheels. The M2 CS can sprint from 0–100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 302 km/h.

Although we know that the M2 CS will be offered in limited numbers, the exact production numbers have not yet been revealed by BMW.
