Boat full of devotees capsized in Yamuna, 10 people died, CM Yogi took cognizance

A painful accident has come to light on Yamuna river in Vrindavan, Mathura, where a steamer filled with devotees overturned and caused huge damage. So far, 10 people have been confirmed dead in this accident, while the condition of many others is said to be critical. After the accident, there was chaos on the spot and screams were heard everywhere.

Devotees came from Punjab for darshan

According to the information, there were about 25 devotees on board the steamer, who had come from Punjab to visit Vrindavan. It is being told that this accident happened near Pipawala bridge, when the steamer running at high speed suddenly went out of control and collided with the bridge. The collision was so strong that the steamer lost its balance and overturned, due to which the people in it fell straight into the Yamuna.

As soon as the information about the accident was received, the police, health department and team of divers immediately reached the spot and relief and rescue operations were started. So far, three people have been evacuated safely, who have been admitted to the hospital in critical condition, where they are undergoing treatment. However, the situation of many people remains worrying.

12 people missing

It is being told that about 12 people are still missing, for whom divers are continuously conducting search operations. Due to the strong current in the river and limited visibility, rescue work is becoming difficult, but the teams are engaged with full readiness.

The administration has surrounded the incident site and relief work has been intensified. Local people are also helping in the rescue operation. This accident has sent a wave of mourning in the entire area, while the families of the victims are crying in distress.

Officials say that the search for the missing people is going on and every possible effort is being made so that everyone can be evacuated safely. Besides, investigation into the cause of the accident has also been started, so that such incidents can be prevented in future.

Chief Minister Yogi took cognizance of the accident

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also taken cognizance of this accident in Mathura. Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, he expressed condolences to the families of the deceased. Also, the Chief Minister has instructed the officials to speed up the relief and rescue work and provide all possible help to the affected people. Apart from this, he has also given instructions to give appropriate compensation to the families of the deceased.
