Bob Persichetti, Justin K Thompson set to helm Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse

Bob Persichetti and Justin K Thompson have been roped to direct the third and the final installment in the Spider-Verse animated franchise: Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

Persichetti has earlier co-directed Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verseand worked as an executive producer on 2022’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Thompson was production designer on Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and later joined as the director on the second film along with Joaquim Dos Santos and Kemp Powers. The duo have played an integral part in shaping the franchise.

The highly-anticipated upcoming film will conclude the trilogy that started with 2018’s critically-acclaimed title Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Versewhich won an Oscar for the best animated film, and continued with 2023’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

“We have had the immense privilege of being part of Miles’ journey from the very beginning, and directing the conclusion to his story is beyond exciting,” the duo said in a statement, adding, “The creativity and care poured into every minute of this project has been truly inspiring. We have crafted what we feel is a very satisfying ending, and we can’t wait for fans to experience it. We’re bringing everything we’ve got.” The makers have not yet announced a release date for the film. Plot details are also kept under wraps.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller will once again join hands to script the film, and will also produce along with Amy Pascal and Avi Arad, and Jinko Gotoh. Aditya Sood and Christina Steinberg are executive producing, while Jessica Berri serves as co-producer.
