Body of Hyderabad student missing in Finland recovered from sea, family demands impartial investigation
Hyderabad. The body of Indian student Gujja Manideep Reddy, who was missing for the last two months in Finland, has been recovered from the sea off Helsinki. Finnish officials have confirmed the identity of the body, but the cause of death has not been disclosed yet. Meanwhile, the student’s family has termed the case as suspicious and has demanded intervention from the Central Government and an impartial investigation.
Was missing since May 5
Manideep Reddy, 18, was a resident of Hayatnagar, Hyderabad and was studying Software and Systems Engineering at Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology (LUT University), Finland.
According to relatives, he was last seen on May 5 in a shopping mall in Helsinki. After this no trace of him could be found. Recently, the Indian Embassy in Finland informed the family through email about the recovery of his body.
The family expressed apprehension
The family of the deceased has raised questions on the circumstances of death. Family lawyer K.L.B. Kumar says that the circumstances available raise doubts and the entire matter should be investigated independently and impartially.
He also alleged that the investigation after the student’s disappearance was not conducted at the expected pace. According to the lawyer, after May 29, communication with the family from the Finnish authorities had also stopped. However, there has been no official response from the concerned authorities on these allegations.
Appealed for help from the central government
The family members have requested the Indian government to provide them assistance to reach Finland as soon as possible. The family says they want to identify the body themselves, meet with local authorities and get full information about the circumstances of the death.
Investigation continues, cause of death not clear
At present, Finnish officials have not revealed the cause of Manideep Reddy’s death. According to available information, the police have not yet found concrete evidence of any criminal conspiracy or murder. The investigation of the case is ongoing and the final conclusion will be known only after the post-mortem and other investigation reports come.
In such a situation, the suspicion raised by the family and the possibility of murder has not been officially confirmed yet. The investigating agencies are investigating all possible aspects.
