Boil in Kashmir: Strict restrictions for the second day in protest against Khamenei’s assassination, Internet slow and Lal Chowk sealed, know complete updates
Srinagar. Strict restrictions continued for the second consecutive day on Tuesday following widespread protests in the Kashmir Valley against the assassination of Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. As a precautionary measure, the administration has closed educational institutions for two days and slowed down mobile internet speed.
Violent demonstrations took place at some places.
On Tuesday, demonstrations appeared to be turning violent in some areas of the valley. In view of the situation, the movement of convoys of security forces was cancelled. To avoid tension, road opening security parties were also not deployed.
At least 14 people, including six security personnel, were injured in the protests on Monday. According to officials, around 75 rallies were taken out in the Kashmir Valley, while demonstrations were also recorded in some parts of the Jammu region.
The biggest protest after August 2019-
It is being told that this is the first time since August 2019 that such large-scale protests have been seen in the valley. The administration has appealed to the people to maintain peace and follow the instructions issued.
Lal Chowk clock tower sealed, heavy security deployment-
Srinagar’s Lal Chowk clock tower has been sealed by placing barricades all around. Barbed wire and additional barricades have been installed at major intersections of the city.
A large number of police and paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel have been deployed to prevent any untoward situation.
Helpline issued, warning of strict action-
The administration has issued a 24-hour helpline number (0194-2740003) for assistance. Police have appealed to the people to stay away from violence and provocation and warned that strict legal action will be taken against those involved in illegal activities.
The administration says all steps have been taken as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order and prevent any possible violence.
