Bold design, cool features and automatic gear in CNG too, new Tata Punch launched
New Delhi: The country’s well-known automobile manufacturer Tata Motors has finally launched the facelift version of its popular micro SUV Tata Punch in the Indian market. This updated model was awaited for a long time and now it has entered with new design, advanced features and better performance. The starting ex-showroom price of the new Tata Punch facelift has been kept at Rs 5.59 lakh.
The company has introduced this new model by making it more stylish, more safe and equipped with more technology. Tata claims that this facelift version is not only a strong contender in its segment, but it will also offer a more premium and powerful experience than ever before.
Big change in new Tata Punch
The new Tata Punch has become the country’s first sub-compact SUV, which is also available in automatic transmission option with CNG. Along with this, the company has laid special emphasis on its safety. This SUV was tested in a real world crash test with a Tata truck, in which the car collided with the truck at a speed of 50 km per hour. According to the company, after this test, all the 4 dummies fitted in the car remained safe. Till now, about 7 lakh units of this model have been sold.
Look and Design
New lighting elements, piano black finish, new lower grille and updated skid plates have been provided at the front of Tata Punch facelift. Its design now matches Tata’s big models like Nexon, Harrier and Safari. At the rear, new tail lamps and redesigned bumper give it a bolder look. This SUV will be available in Scientific Blue, Caramel Yellow, Bengal Rouge Red, Daytona Grey, Coorg Clouds Silver and Pristine White colors.
Interior and Features
The cabin of the new Punch has become more premium and modern than before. It gets a new twin-spoke steering wheel, on which the illuminated Tata logo is given. Toggle style switches have now been installed in place of the old buttons. The design of the AC vents has been changed and it has a 26.03 cm infotainment system and a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster screen.
Tata Punch facelift has been introduced in a total of six variants – Smart, Pure, Pure Plus, Adventure, Accomplished and Accomplished Plus, so that customers can choose the option as per their budget and need.
Engine and Performance
In this facelift model, major changes have been made regarding the engine. The new Tata Punch has been launched with three engine options. It includes a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which is also found in other Tata models. Apart from this, the option of 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine is also given. As a third option, the same 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine will also be available with CNG.
The company claims that the new Tata Punch is the fastest sub-compact SUV in its segment, which accelerates from 0 to 100 km per hour in just 11.1 seconds.
5-star rating and strong safety
The new Tata Punch has received a 5-star safety rating from the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (Bharat NCAP). It has advanced safety features like 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Hold Assist, iTPMS, 360 degree surround view camera, auto fold out ORVM, rear wiper and washer, rain sensing wipers, ABS with EBD.
