Bollywood celebrates as India wins T20 World Cup in dominant style

Joy and celebrations swept across India after the national cricket team clinched their third ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title, defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium. As millions of fans celebrated the historic triumph, several Bollywood celebrities joined the nationwide celebrations on social media.

India’s victory was particularly significant as the team became the first nation to successfully defend the T20 World Cup title, following their previous triumph in 2024.

Bollywood stars cheer for Team India

Soon after the final wicket fell, film personalities flooded social media with congratulatory messages for the Men in Blue.

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan shared his excitement on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “What a comprehensive victory!! Well done to our men in blue!!! You guys are champions and watching you on the field has made us all very proud. Take a bow. Jai Hind!”

Actor Akshay Kumar celebrated the victory in his own style by sharing a GIF from his upcoming film and writing, “Har ghar ka mahol (Scene at every household). Congratulations on bringing the World Cup home, Team India.”

Vicky Kaushal described the triumph as a moment of pure dominance, posting, “World Champions baby! Pure dominance. Pure class. Well done team India.”

Messages pour in from film industry

Actor Anil Kapoor added a playful twist to his celebration by sharing a photo of himself eating a kiwi fruit, referring to New Zealand’s nickname. His caption read, “Aaj kiwi thodi zyada hi meethi lag rahi hai (Today, the kiwi tastes a little sweeter). Congratulations to our Indian team — you never fail to make us proud.”

Anushka Sharma also congratulated the team on Instagram Stories, praising the players for achieving back-to-back World Cup victories.

Meanwhile, Sunny Deol lauded the team’s fearless performance and congratulated key players including Jasprit Bumrah, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Axar Patel, Abhishek Sharma and Shivam Dube.

Several other celebrities including Abhishek Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Ayushmann Khurrana, Sidharth Malhotra, Kareena Kapoor, Ananya Panday, Parineeti Chopra and Wamiqa Gabbi also expressed pride in Team India’s historic victory.

India scripts history with dominant win

India produced a commanding performance in the final. Batting first, the team posted a massive 255 runs, powered by half-centuries from Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson.

In response, New Zealand struggled against India’s disciplined bowling attack and were bowled out for 159 runs.

Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah delivered a match-winning spell with four wickets, earning the Player of the Match award, while Sanju Samson was named Player of the Tournament after scoring 321 runs in five matches.

The historic win also witnessed the presence of former World Cup-winning captains MS Dhoni (2007) and Rohit Sharma (2024) at the stadium, making the moment even more special for Indian cricket fans.
