Bollywood leader Shilpa Shetty breaks silence on Rs 60 crore fraud case, says woman’s dignity ‘crushed’
New Delhi, 19 December. Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has broken her silence in the Rs 60 crore fraud case, saying that she has been wrongly named. His team said in a statement that it was deeply saddened by the baseless attempt to link him to this case.

It is noteworthy that this case is related to the police complaint filed against Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra for defrauding a businessman of Rs 60.4 crore. The allegation was that Shetty-Kundra’s company, Best Deal TV, had taken a loan, which was shown as an investment.
Businessman Deepak Kothari has filed a complaint against Shilpa and Raj, in which he has alleged that the actress and her husband asked for money on the pretext of expanding business for their company Best Deal TV Private Limited, but misused the money for personal purposes. Kothari also claimed that these transactions took place between 2015 and 2023 and efforts to recover the money failed.

Currently, the statement issued by Shilpa’s team says, ‘I am deeply saddened by the baseless attempt to link my name to this case. My involvement with the company was entirely in a non-executive capacity, with no role in operations, finance, decision making, or any kind of signing authority. Like many other public figures, I too had endorsed some products professionally for a home shopping channel, for which my payment is still pending.
The family gave a loan of about Rs 20 crores.
Shilpa Shetty alleged, ‘I want to say on record that our family has given a loan of about Rs 20 crore to the company, and that amount has not been repaid till now. “This mischievous attempt to impose criminal responsibility on me, especially after an unreasonable delay of almost nine years, is legally unsustainable and against the settled principles of law.”

Shetty said, ‘Despite these facts, my name is being unnecessarily dragged into the proceedings, which is disturbing and wrong. Such baseless allegations not only misrepresent the facts but also unfairly trample upon a woman’s dignity, integrity and reputation in public. A petition has already been filed in the Honorable Bombay High Court, I have full faith in the judicial process and will take appropriate legal measures to protect my rights and reputation.
Appeal to media for responsible reporting and publishing
Urging the media to report responsibly and verify facts before publishing, Shetty said, ‘I respectfully request the media to pay attention to these facts and report responsibly by verifying the veracity of the facts.’
Raj Kundra also denied the allegations
Shilpa Shetty’s husband, Raj Kundra also denied the allegations. Earlier, in a post on his
Kundra said in X Post, ‘We clearly reject the baseless and motive-driven allegations being spread. The issues being raised are being given a criminal color without any legal basis. A petition has already been filed in the Honorable High Court and is yet to be heard. We have fully cooperated in the investigation and are confident that justice will be served and we have full faith in the law enforcement agencies and the Indian judiciary. We respectfully request the media to exercise restraint since the matter is sub-judice.
