Fans often expect kind and respectful behavior from their favorite actors but there have been instances where Bollywood stars have left their admirers disheartened.
A thread on a website called Quora showcased fans sharing unpleasant experiences with various Bollywood celebrities. Below are some of the incidents where fans encountered rude or harsh behavior from their favorite stars.
Katrina Kaif
Two different incidents involving the famous actress revealed an unflattering side of her personality.
A fan recounted traveling from London to Mumbai in business class, where Katrina Kaif was present with her manager. Her presence created a buzz in the cabin as she was at the peak of her fame. However, once the plane took off, her behavior turned unpleasant.
A young 8-year-old boy approached Katrina with a notebook to ask for an autograph, addressing her as “Aunty.” This enraged her, and she snapped at the child, asking how he dared to call her “Aunty” and questioning the airline staff’s negligence in letting the boy approach her. The boy, visibly frightened, returned to his seat in tears.
Later, a Sikh gentleman confronted Katrina for scolding an innocent child, saying, “How dare you scare a child? You should be ashamed of yourself.” This earned applause from the passengers, leaving Katrina speechless.
Another fan shared a story from a hotel in Los Angeles where Katrina was present. A 10-year-old cousin of the fan, who was a big admirer of hers, approached her for a selfie while she was sipping juice after a workout. Katrina refused rudely, slammed her glass on the table and walked away, leaving the child heartbroken.
Twinkle Khanna
A fan working as a sales associate in a toy store shared a disappointing encounter with Twinkle Khanna.
A 4-year-old boy came to the counter delighted to see a bubble-making toy. After the boy took the toy to his mother, Twinkle Khanna approached the sales associate angrily, questioning why he had shown the toy to the child. When told the toy cost ₹280, she became even angrier, exclaiming, “Do you know how hard one has to work to earn this much money?”
The fan felt her behavior was unnecessarily rude and inappropriate especially toward a child.
Anushka Sharma
A store manager at a popular Mumbai fashion outlet narrated a frustrating incident with Anushka Sharma.
Anushka came to the store looking for a party dress but despite being shown multiple options, she was dissatisfied. As the store closing time of 11 PM approached, she demanded a specific dress that wasn’t available in the store. When informed that it could be ordered, she became upset and left.
The next day, the store received a complaint from Anushka through the company’s website. The complaint was taken so seriously that one of the employees lost their job and the rest of the staff had their salaries deducted. This left the team disheartened.
Bobby Deol
A fan recounted an encounter with Bobby Deol at a restaurant. Late at night (around 1:30 AM), Bobby arrived intoxicated and demanded food. When told the restaurant was closed, he became furious, pushed the staff and tried to force his way inside.
The security guard intervened and after much effort, Bobby was persuaded to leave. However, he angrily threw his shoe at the door before being taken away by a friend.
Salman Khan
A fan described an incident involving Salman Khan while he was in his car.
When a group of fans, including the narrator, tried to click his pictures, Salman Khan lowered his car window, snatched the narrator’s phone and threw it to the ground. While this might not have been a significant loss for him, the fan expressed how much it would have mattered if the phone had broken.
Govinda
In 2008, during the filming of Money Hai Toh Honey Hai, Govinda slapped a fan, Santosh Rai, on set.
This incident led to a legal complaint being filed in the Bombay High Court in 2009. Although the case was dismissed in 2013, Rai pursued it to the Supreme Court in 2014. In 2017, the Supreme Court directed Govinda to apologize to Rai offering an unconditional apology and ₹500,000 as compensation.
Saif Ali Khan & Kareena Kapoor
A 12-year-old fan, Devaraj Patel shared an encounter at the Mumbai airport.
Accompanied by his family, he spotted Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor. When he and his cousins approached them for a handshake, a mishap occurred where Devaraj accidentally stepped on Saif’s foot. In anger, Saif pushed him back, stared at him, and said, “How dare you?” Without further interaction, Saif and Kareena walked away, leaving the boy feeling humiliated.
Fans expect their favorite stars to treat them with kindness and respect especially when children are involved. Incidents like these can negatively impact a celebrity’s fanbase.
