Bollywood veteran Actress: 20 lakhs per episode, Mumtaz told her rate to Indian Idol people, Dharmendra was also with him

News India Live, Digital Desk: We all know that old-time actress Mumtaz is still the heartbeat of millions of hearts. She is rarely seen on TV or in films, but when she appears, she is sure to be discussed. Recently, in an interview, Mumtaz has spoken so candidly about her personal life and way of working that after listening to it you will also feel – “Brother, this is called real stardom!” The fact is that Mumtaz is often asked why she does not come as a judge or guest in today’s reality shows? The answer that Mumtaz gave on this is no less than a shock for the channels and show makers. “My work is not for free.” Mumtaz clearly said that even today she does not believe in working for ‘free’ or ‘cheap’. Their plan is clear – if you want Mumtaz, you will have to pay Mumtaz’s price. She revealed that she had charged Rs 18 to 20 lakh from the channel for the episode of Indian Idol in which she was seen with Dharmendra! Yes, you heard it right. 20 lakh rupees for appearing as a guest in just one episode. Mumtaz told that the channel people had rolled out so many papads to convince her. They approached him again and again, but he complained about the budget. The channel people used to say, “Mam, the budget is not that much.” But Mumtaz remained adamant on her conditions. He had clearly said, “You people invite others, they may come cheaply or go away dancing and singing for free, but I am Mumtaz. I have a standard.” Ultimately, the channel had to bow down and invite her on the show by paying a nominal amount. Mumtaz says that by the grace of God she has everything, so why should she prove herself cheap by going on TV? Her attitude is simple – “Throw the money, watch the show.” She had left ‘Sita Aur Geeta’ for money! This attitude of Mumtaz is not of today, even in her time she used to work on her own terms. While sharing an old anecdote, he told that Ramesh Sippy’s superhit film ‘Sita Aur Geeta’ was first offered to him (which was later offered to Hema Malini). At that time the budget of that film was very high (about 40 lakhs). Sippy Saheb wanted Mumtaz to reduce the fees a little (at that time Mumtaz’s fees used to be around 2 to 2.5 lakhs), but Mumtaz clearly refused. He said, “When you are paying full amount to others, why cut my fees?” And just because of this self-respect, she left that cult classic film. In today’s era when actors are ready to do anything to stay in the limelight, this style of Mumtaz is really praiseworthy. Brother, what if the lioness grows old, she does not forget to hunt!
