Bomb threat at Kolkata airport, Indigo Shillong flight 6E 7304 stopped
Shillong-bound IndiGo flight 6E 7304 was grounded at Kolkata’s Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport following a bomb threat on February 14, 2026. The scare began when a crew member found a hand-written note in the aircraft restroom claiming there was an explosive on the plane just before or during boarding for the 9:15 AM flight.
Airport officials immediately moved the plane to an isolation bay as a precaution. All passengers and crew were safely disembarked and taken to a safe place. Special teams including Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and CISF personnel thoroughly searched the cabin, cargo hold and baggage. No suspicious objects or explosives were found, and after everything was cleared the aircraft was cleared for operation.
IndiGo issued a statement confirming: “A security threat was observed on IndiGo flight 6E 7304 from Kolkata to Shillong on 14 February 2026. Following our procedures, we immediately informed the relevant authorities and are fully cooperating with them.” The airline regretted the disruption and reiterated that passenger and crew safety is its top priority.
After this the flight left for Shillong. Airport officials and police have started an investigation to find out the origin of the note, which appears to be a hoax.
The incident is part of a recent wave of similar threats targeting Indian airlines, many of which have been dismissed as hoaxes after thorough investigation. For example, a Delhi-Pune IndiGo flight in late January 2026, in which a note was found in the toilet, and other scary incidents in Hyderabad and Bengaluru led to flight delays and rerouting. Aviation security is on high alert, and full emergency protocols are implemented on every alert, even if there are repeated false alarms. Officials stress that this type of fraud causes a lot of trouble and diverts resources.
