Bomb threats against planes have not stopped. After Air India Express and Vistara, threats have been made to blow up Indigo’s planes. All 15 flights were bombed and made emergency landings.
According to the information, the series of bomb threats on planes is not stopping. There was chaos at the airport today due to bomb threat and passengers also had to face problems. Bomb threats were received on 15 different flights on Saturday. Out of which five flights are of IndiGo and the other flights are of Akasa Sahin Airlines.
According to the information, bomb threats have been received on flights 6E108 Hyderabad-Chandigarh, 6E58 Jeddah-Mumbai, 6E17 Mumbai-Istanbul, 6E184 Jodhpur-Delhi, 6E11 Delhi-Istanbul. Till the latest information was received, an Indigo flight going from Darbhanga to Mumbai made an emergency landing after a bomb threat. Since the flight was coming from Darbhanga to Mumbai, there was no change… The flight reached its destination safely and Mumbai Police and airport security department are doing their job as per all necessary protocols.
Till now, Mumbai Police had registered a total of 7 FIRs in different cases related to bomb threats. Seeing the continuous increase in such cases, the police said that their number may increase further. Now the police is investigating from where the threatening calls came in the plane. A case will be registered only on the basis of investigation. Necessary measures will be taken immediately after the landing of the flight, following all protocols and keeping in mind the safety of the passengers.
Earlier, bomb threats were made on three international flights of the aviation company ‘Vistara’, which later proved to be false. As a precaution, one plane was diverted to Frankfurt. An emergency landing was made at Jaipur airport late on Friday night after a bomb threat was received on an Air India Express plane coming from Dubai to Jaipur. However, after investigation the threat turned out to be a “rumour”.
The Civil Aviation Ministry is planning to impose strict rules to curb incidents of bomb threats on planes and put the perpetrators on the ‘no fly’ list. DGCA is considering amending the rules to ensure strict action against bomb threat incidents to airlines. Most of the threats have proven to be false. In this regard, the Ministry is considering amending the existing rules including those of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) to ensure strict punishment to the culprits. The official said a proposal to put people making false bomb threats on the airline’s ‘no-fly’ list is under consideration. He also said that legal opinion is being gathered on changing the rules. The ministry is also examining the provisions being adopted in foreign countries to deal with fake bomb threats.
