‘Bomb’ threat in Indigo flight at Kolkata airport, suspicious note found in flight going to Shillong
New Delhi: There was chaos at Kolkata Airport on Saturday morning when information about a bomb on a flight to Shillong was received. Within a few minutes, instead of excitement, worry started appearing on the faces of the passengers. However, security agencies took control of the situation in time and all the passengers were evacuated safely.
The incident took place at Kolkata’s Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport. Indigo flight 6E3074 was scheduled to depart for Shillong at 9:15 am. The boarding process was almost complete. Meanwhile, the crew members found a suspicious paper in the toilet of the plane. It was written on it that a bomb had been placed in the plane. As soon as this information was received, the pilot immediately informed Air Traffic Control (ATC). After this, immediate action was started as per security protocol.
Aircraft taken to isolation bay
As per security rules, the plane was removed from the runway and taken to a safe and separate part of the airport, called ‘Isolation Bay’. During this time, bomb disposal squad and dog squad were also called to the spot. Security agencies surrounded the plane from all sides and started a thorough investigation.

As soon as information about the threat was received, all the passengers were carefully deboarded from the plane and sent back to the terminal building. The airport administration clarified that the safety of passengers is the top priority. The aircraft will not be allowed to fly until the investigation is completed.
The security team is carefully checking every part of the plane and the luggage of the passengers. According to initial information, this could also be a rumour, but the entire procedure is being followed to avoid any risk. This incident definitely created panic among the passengers for some time, but due to the promptness of the airport and security agencies, a major accident was averted.
The airport director said that during boarding, a paper was found in the toilet on which talk about a bomb was written. As soon as the information was received, the passengers were immediately deboarded and the plane was taken to a different location. At present the investigation is going on and the situation is under control.
