Bomin finally wins 12 mn KRW through lawsuit filed against the mishap at the golf club

Bomin, a former member of Golden Child, suffered a cheekbone fracture while playing golf and has since partially recovered 10 million KRW in damages. Citing lost wages as a result of his injury, he first sought 35 million KRW. But in the end, the court rejected this claim because there was not enough proof to connect the accident to his lost income.

Korean media outlets claim that last month, the Seoul Western District Court’s Civil Division 8 partially endorsed Bomin in his complaint against A, the person who hit him with the golf club, and B, the range operator. In the end, the court mandated that B pay the former K-pop star almost 12 million KRW, with A contributing 10.6 million KRW.

The incident took place at a Gyeonggi Province golf range in September 2022. Another person, A, unintentionally hit Bomin with a golf club while he was operating a kiosk in his own booth.

It was discovered that there were no partitions or limits between the booths, even if the distance between them complied with safety regulations. Furthermore, there was a significant risk of harm because the kiosks were placed too close to other booths. Because B, the operator, failed to provide sufficient safety precautions and meet the range’s contractual responsibility of safety, he was held accountable.

A, the other defendant in the case, had a history of hitting nearby golfers, the court added. But in this case, the judge only held A accountable for failing to inspect his surroundings because the absence of safety precautions was deemed more responsible. In addition, the court determined that A was only 30% at fault for the occurrence and held Bomin partially accountable for failing to take preventative measures.

Bomin first asserted that his 12 failed projects had cost him 35 million KRW in lost revenue. The court did not, however, find enough proof to connect his specific damages to A and B’s knowledge of these conditions at the time.
