New South Wales Chief Minister Chris Minns told a press conference that the attack was intended to target Sydney’s Jewish community on the first day of Hanukkah. According to officials, one gunman was killed on the spot, while the other was taken into custody after being shot.

According to government confirmation, a total of 12 people, including children and a police officer, have died in this attack. The man, who suffered head injuries in the October 7 attacks and was injured this time too, spoke to 9NEWS with a bandage on his head. He said, “My head is hurt and I am bleeding.” He told that he had come with his family to attend the Hanukkah celebration, when suddenly the sounds of gunshots started echoing.
