Border-Gavaskar Series: Guwahati will host the Gavaskar Trophy to be held between Ind-Aus, BCCI released the schedule

Delhi. After hosting the Test match against South Africa in November last year, Guwahati’s Barsapara Stadium will now host one of the five matches of the Border Gavaskar Trophy to be held between India and Australia in 2027. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday released the calendar of the senior men’s team’s home season which includes five Tests, nine ODIs and eight T20 matches.

The ODI matches will definitely be in focus as the legendary pair of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are expected to play in all those matches. Both these star batsmen now play only in ODI format. The series against Australia will be played in January, February and March 2027. It will start on 21st January in Nagpur.

After this, the second Test match will be played in Chennai (29 January to 2 February) and after a gap of eight days, the third Test will be played in Guwahati from 11 to 15 February. The fourth Test in Ranchi will be played from 19 to 23 February, while the final Test in Ahmedabad will start from 27 February.

Of the five venues, Nagpur (where the Test match was last held against Australia in 2023), Chennai (where the Test match was last held against Bangladesh in 2024), Ranchi (where the Test match was last held against England in 2024) and Ahmedabad (where the Test match was last held against Australia in 2023) have got the hosting as per the rotation policy.

But it was not clear how Guwahati got the hosting rights again even though it had already organized a Test match against South Africa in November 2025. The thing to note is that Mumbai and Kolkata are not part of this important series. It was not known whether the Cricket Association of Bengal or the Mumbai Cricket Association had expressed their inability to host the Test match against Australia.

The five-Test series against Australia will be the main center of attraction in India’s home season. Apart from this, India will also host West Indies, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe will play a bilateral series in India for the first time since 2002. When it last toured India for a bilateral series, the captain of the Indian team was Sourav Ganguly. This season, 22 international matches will be played in 17 cities, in which the West Indies team will be the first to tour India. His India tour will start from September 27 this year.

The tour will include three-match ODIs followed by a five-match T20 International series. ODI matches will be played in Thiruvananthapuram (27 September), Guwahati (30 September) and New Chandigarh (03 October). After this, T20 International matches will be played in Lucknow (06 October), Ranchi (09 October), Indore (11 October), Hyderabad (14 October) and Bengaluru (17 October).

After this, India will host Sri Lanka in December, in which a series of three ODIs and three T20 Internationals will be played. The ODI matches will be played in Delhi (13 December), Bengaluru (16 December) and Ahmedabad (19 December) while the T20 International matches will be played in Rajkot (22 December), Cuttack (24 December) and Pune (27 December). Zimbabwe will tour India for a three-match ODI series in January 2027. The matches of this series will be played in Kolkata (03 January), Hyderabad (06 January) and Mumbai (09 January).
