“Both players will be pulled up”: Virat Kohli shouldering Test debutant Sam Konstas surprises Sunil Gavaskar
Sam Konstas has completely demolished Jasprit Bumrah in the first innings of the fourth Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. He is hitting the best speedster for fours and sixes without any fear. His attacking batting proved too much for Virat Kohli to handle, who tried to take on the 19th-old-debutant. The two players were walking to different ends after the completion of an over when Kohli shouldered him, and the two shared some words.
Sensing the trouble, one of the on-field umpires intervened and told the players to carry on with the proceedings. Former India player Sunil Gavaskar didn’t like what he saw from the two and said that Kohli and Konstas would be pulled up.

“Both will be pulled up for this incident,” the legendary batter said. Gavaskar also opined on the young batter hammering Bumrah to all parts of the ground. “I haven’t seen anyone treating Jasprit Bumrah like that before. He has forced Bumrah to bowl a different line and length and the pacer is feeling the pressure. This is white-ball cricket-style batting,” he added.
“The power of youth that has taken over at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. He has no fear and no past baggage and is carrying on with a fearless approach,” he concluded.
Sam Konstas was included in the team for the last two Tests against India, and he replaced Nathan McSweeney. Konstas batted well for the Prime Minister’s XI against India, scoring a hundred.
