Bowlers fail in BBL, Brisbane Heat surpasses target of 258 runs
Apart from the Ashes, Big Bash League (BBL) is currently going on in Australia. Record-breaking performances have been seen in the first week of BBL 2025-26, which started from December 14. On Friday (19 December), the sixth match of the league was played between Brisbane Heat and Perth Scorchers. In this match, the bowlers were beaten to such an extent that a total of 515 runs were scored. Perth Scorchers, who came to bat first after losing the toss, had scored 257 runs at the loss of 6 wickets, which Brisbane Heat created a sensation by achieving by losing 2 wickets in 19.5 overs.
This is the biggest run chase in BBL history. Talking about T20 cricket, this is the second most successful run chase. The record of the biggest run chase is in the name of Punjab Kings, who crossed the target of 262 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2024.

Wildermuth-Renshaw’s record partnership
Brisbane Heat lost the wicket of Colin Mulroe on the very first ball in the huge run chase. After this, Wildermuth-Renshaw made a record partnership of 212 runs for the second wicket. This was the biggest partnership in BBL history. The pair broke when Renshaw was run out. Renshaw played an innings of 102 runs in 51 balls with the help of 5 fours and 9 sixes. After his departure, Wildermuth stood till the end and returned only after leading Brisbane Heat to victory. He played an unbeaten inning of 110 runs in 54 balls, which included 5 fours and 9 sixes.

Max Bryant also made a valuable contribution of 28 runs in 16 balls. He retired hurt. At that time Brisbane Heat was just 2 runs away from victory. Wildermuth gave the team a memorable victory by scoring 2 runs on the fifth ball of the last over. Jhye Richardson was the only successful bowler for Perth Scorchers.
