Box Office Report: ‘Karuppu’ created a stir on the weekend
From the box office point of view, weekend is always considered the most important for films, because during this time both the crowd of viewers and the earnings increase as compared to normal days.
Entertainment News: This weekend there was an interesting competition between many big films at the Indian box office. Films of different genres like horror comedy, period drama, romantic comedy and action-drama tried to attract the audience to the theatres. However, this time the most talked about film was Karuppu, which dominated the box office with excellent earnings.
South Indian superstar Suriya and actress Trisha Krishnan’s film ‘Karuppu’ emerged as the biggest winner of the weekend. Whereas Bhooth Bangla, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do and Raja Shivaji also maintained their hold.
‘Karuppu’ became the biggest film of the weekend
‘Karuppu’, which was released on May 15, performed brilliantly on the third day of its release i.e. Sunday and collected around Rs 28.35 crore. The film’s fast collection has made it the most successful film of this weekend. Till now the net India collection of the film has reached around Rs 68 crores, while the India gross collection is said to be around Rs 78.75 crores. The film’s performance at the global level was also strong and its worldwide collection has reached more than Rs 120 crore.
Experts believe that the main reason for the success of the film is its strong story, action sequences and the pairing of Surya-Trisha. There is a tremendous discussion about the film on social media also.
‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’ got a great opening weekend
Ayushmann Khurrana, Rakul Preet Singh, Wamiqa Gabbi and Sara Ali Khan starrer romantic comedy ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’ also showed good traction in the opening weekend. The film made a business of Rs 7.75 crore on the third day of its release. With this, the net India collection of the film has reached approximately Rs 17.50 crore. The worldwide earning is said to be more than Rs 24 crore.
The film is getting good response especially among the young audience. The light comedy and relationship based story has attracted the multiplex audience.
‘Bhoot Bangla’ earnings still continue

Akshay Kumar’s horror-comedy ‘Bhoot Bangla’ has been successful in surviving in theaters even after a month of its release. The film also recorded good earnings in its fifth weekend. On Sunday, the film made a business of around Rs 1.90 crore. With this, its net India collection has reached more than Rs 168 crore, while the global earning has crossed Rs 253 crore.
‘Raja Shivaji’ maintained strong performance
Riteish Deshmukh’s period drama film ‘Raja Shivaji’ is also performing well. The film earned Rs 3.45 crore on its third Sunday. Till now, the net India collection of the film has crossed Rs 84 crore, while the India gross collection has crossed the mark of Rs 100 crore. The film has received positive response from both audiences and critics due to its historical theme and strong visuals.
‘Krishnavataram’ is getting strong word of mouth publicity

Krishnavataram also seems to be gradually strengthening its hold at the box office. The film made a business of Rs 3.20 crore on the 11th day. The story and presentation of the film has been appreciated by the audience as well as critics. Till now its Net India collection has crossed Rs 20 crore.
If seen on the basis of Sunday’s collection, ‘Karuppu’ left the other films far behind. However, it is important to keep in mind the release date and theater run of the films. While ‘Bhoot Bangla’ and ‘Raja Shivaji’ have been in theaters for several weeks, ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’ and ‘Karuppu’ are newly released films.
