Brawl in Thunder-Wizards: four players ejected

A chaotic night at the Capital One Arena, where the matchup between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Washington Wizards went far beyond basketball. During the Thunder’s 132-111 win, a brawl late in the first half led to four ejectionsigniting tempers and shifting the game’s momentum.

It all started after a basket by Anthony Gill, when under the rim Jaylin Williams and Justin Champagnie began pushing each other more and more aggressively. Within seconds, tensions escalated: Gill himself and Ajay Mitchell got involved, turning the initial contact into a full-blown fight.

The situation quickly got out of handwith the players involved spilling toward the courtside area and into the front rows of the crowd. Only the intervention of staff and referees managed to restore order after several tense moments.

After a lengthy replay review, officials took strict action:

  • Justin Champagnie and Jaylin Williams were each assessed two technical fouls, resulting in immediate ejection
  • Ajay Mitchell and Cason Wallace received one technical foul each but were also ejected

A decision that inevitably impacted rotations and the flow of the game.

Mark Daigneault’s reaction: “I didn’t agree”

After the game, Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault did not hide his frustration with how the situation was handled:

I didn’t agree with their evaluation after talking with the referees and reviewing the play at halftime
