Decider called it “as intense an action film as you’re likely to see all year” highlighting its sustained tension and choreography.
Reviews have pointed to director Pedro Morelli’s use of long, unbroken shots and immersive sound design to heighten suspense.
The San Jose Mercury News described the film as one that can leave viewers “absolutely breathless” while also noting that although familiarity with the series adds context the movie stands on its own.
With gritty themes and high-stakes action the film has drawn comparisons to hard-edged crime dramas such as The Departed, appealing to fans of tightly wound, morally complex thrillers.
