Breaking News: FIR registered against Swami Avimukteshwaranand and Mukundanand under POCSO Act, Shankaracharya said – Complainant Ashutosh Brahmachari is a ‘history sheeter’

Prayagraj. Prayagraj FIR has been registered against Jyotishpeeth’s Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwarananda Saraswati and one of his disciples Mukundananda on charges of sexual abuse. This case has been registered in Jhunsi police station after the court order and serious sections including POCSO Act have been imposed in it.

According to the FIR, this case is said to have taken place between January 13, 2025 and February 15, 2026. The complaint alleges that Swami Avimukteshwaranand and his disciple sexually assaulted two disciples. One of them is said to be a minor. The name of Ashutosh Brahmachari has emerged as the complainant, to whom the aggrieved disciples had approached. He alleged that both the victims were being exploited for a long time, but were not able to come forward due to fear and pressure.

It has also been claimed in the FIR that these incidents were also carried out in the camps organized during the Kumbh Mela of 2025 and Magh Mela of 2026. It is alleged that incidents of exploitation took place not only inside the camp but also in Swami’s vehicle parked outside the camp.

Under which sections was the case registered?

The police have registered a case in this case under section 351(3) of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS), apart from several serious sections of the POCSO Act – 51, 6, 3, 4(2), 16 and 17. Besides, two-three unknown people have also been made accused. This FIR was registered after the court order. At present the police have started investigating the matter.

Shankaracharya’s side – ‘This is a conspiracy’

Whereas on the order of Allahabad Court to register an FIR in the case of exploitation of Vedpathi Batukas, Swami Avimukteshwaranand said in Varanasi that making allegations is one thing and proving it is a different thing. If we were like that we would be worried, but when we are innocent we have nothing to fear. Talking to the media, he said that there is no trust in the police investigation. Therefore, there should be a high level investigation, but he also talked about full cooperation in the investigation. He said that if the police belongs to the UP government then what report will it give, but we still trust the court and when the matter comes to the court then milk will turn into milk and water into water. Apart from this, there should be a high level and impartial investigation. Will also fully cooperate in the investigation.

Questions were also raised on the complainant

Swami Avimukteshwaranand also made serious allegations against the complainant Ashutosh Brahmachari. He says that Ashutosh has given two different affidavits in the court, which have different stories. He claimed that when the same person gives two different statements in the same case, it is clear that one of them is a liar. In such a situation, the truth will come out after investigation. Not only this, he even called Ashutosh a ‘history-sheeter’ and said that there was already a criminal record against him.

Swami Avimukteshwarananda termed the entire matter as a big conspiracy and said that this is an attempt to defame him and suppress his voice. He also alleged that some people are upset about his upcoming visit and activism regarding issues related to cow protection. He said that such false cases are being made to stop us, but the truth will come out.
