‘Bridgerton’ adds new faces to upcoming season 5
Netflix‘s Regency-era romantic drama Bridgerton has added some new cast members for its upcoming fifth season.
Tega Alexander (Mobland, The Sandman), Jacqueline Boatswain (Carnival Row) and Gemma Knight Jones (Mobland) will be joining the new season which focuses on Francesca (Hannah Dodd) and Michaela Stirling’s (Masali Baduza) love story.
In season five, Two years after the tragic loss of her husband John, introverted Francesca (Hannah) decides to step back into the marriage market for practical purposes. But the return of John’s cousin Michaela (Masali) to London and the Kilmartin estate stirs complicated emotions, leaving Fran torn between her sensible intentions and her heart’s true desires.
Alexander takes on the role of Christopher Anderson, a Regency-era Casanova who could rival the Bridgerton bachelors. But beneath his charming exterior simmers a streak of self-doubt that threatens to undo him. As the son of Lord Anderson, Christopher is determined to leave his mark on society; no matter the cost.
Jacqueline will portray Helen Stirling, Michaela’s mother and the heart behind her daughter’s spirit. With equal parts vivaciousness and tough love, she navigates London’s social season while guiding, and sometimes nudging, Michaela along the way.
Gemma will play Lady Elizabeth Ashworth, Michaela’s longtime friend, confidante, and guide to London society. Underneath her playful persona, Elizabeth is also a grounded realist.
For upcoming season five, Netflix and Shondaland (American television production) will be centering the story on Francesca, paving the way for her sister Eloise (Claudia Jessie) to lead the narrative in Season 6.
For the unversed, filming for Bridgerton’s fifth installment currently in progress in London.
