Britain also ready to attack Iran: Nuclear submarine deployed in Arabian Sea

London, 22 March. Apart from America and Israel, to respond to Iran’s continuous attacks on Gulf countries, Britain has also deployed one of its nuclear powered Royal Navy submarines in the Arabian Sea, which is capable of attacking Iran with cruise missiles. British media has given this information quoting military sources.

The submarine, HMS Anson, is equipped with Tomahawk Block IV land-attack missiles and Spearfish heavyweight torpedoes and is believed to be in the deep waters of the northern Arabian Sea, the Daily Mail reported. This means the British military has the capability to attack Iran if the fighting escalates.

According to Xinhua news agency, if permission is received from British Prime Minister Kier Starmer, HMS Anson will be ordered to fire and it will fire four missiles near the surface.

Britain on Friday agreed to allow the US to use a British base to destroy missile sites and capabilities being used by Iran to attack ships in the Strait of Hormuz, according to a statement from Downing Street. The statement said Britain is working with international partners to develop plans to safeguard international shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Despite this move, the statement stressed that Britain does not want to get involved in a major conflict.

Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi warned Britain

At the same time, news agency Xinhua reported that Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi warned his British counterpart Yvette Cooper not to provide any help in America and Israel’s attack against Iran and said that such help will further increase the tension.

Araghchi later said on social media platform By ignoring his own people, Starmer is putting British lives at risk by allowing UK bases to be used for attacks against Iran. Iran will exercise its right to security.

However, Britain has strongly opposed the Iranian Foreign Minister’s statement. In the same conversation, Cooper warned Iran against targeting ‘UK bases, territories or interests’ and stressed the risk of further escalation.

Recently, Iran had fired two ballistic missiles towards Diego Garcia.

Recently, Iran had fired two ballistic missiles towards Diego Garcia. Because of this the tension increased further. Diego Garcia is a strategically important US-UK joint base in the Indian Ocean. However, neither of the two missiles fired by Iran hit its target. One reportedly failed mid-flight, while the other was shot down by a US Naval interceptor.

However, it is not clear whether the Iranian missiles were successfully destroyed or not. But the attempted attack has raised concerns about Iran’s missile capabilities because Diego Garcia is approximately 4,000 kilometers from Iranian territory, suggesting a greater range than previously estimated. The base plays an important role in the security of the area, which includes American bombers, nuclear submarines and guided-missile destroyers.
