The country’s largest biscuit manufacturing company Britannia Industries has taken an important decision to increase the prices of its products and reduce the weight of the packets.

According to reports, Britannia Managing Director and CEO Rakshit Hargave has clarified in the earnings call with investors that the company is going to gradually increase the prices from this quarter.

This simply means that packets of biscuits costing more than Rs 10 will now become more expensive. At the same time, without increasing the prices of small priced packets, the quantity (grammage) of biscuits available in them will be reduced.
Actually, the decision has come after the recent financial results of the company. Britannia’s net profit increased by 21 percent in the fourth quarter, but the revenue (Rs 4,686 crore) did not meet the expectations of market experts. Due to this, the company’s shares fell by more than 4 percent in the stock market and the shares came down to Rs 5,571.
