BSNL brings ‘desi’ Truecaller! Now the real name of an unknown caller will be visible without the app, know when this service will start
New Delhi: Government telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has taken a big step to protect crores of its users from cyber fraudsters and unknown callers. BSNL has now started testing CNAP (Caller Name Presentation) service. After the introduction of this technology, now BSNL users, when they get a call from any unknown number on their phone, will see the real name of that person, which they had registered in the government documents while purchasing the SIM. The most important thing is that for this you will not need to keep any external app like ‘TrueCaller’ in the phone. TRAI’s order and BSNL’s preparationTelecom regulator TRAI (TRAI) had directed all the telecom companies to implement CNAP service to deal with fake calls and spam. While private companies like Jio, Airtel and Vi have started rolling it out in some circles, BSNL is now testing it zone-wise in collaboration with private operators. According to the report, C-DoT has prepared this special solution for BSNL, which will be implemented across India within the next 3 to 4 months. What is CNAP and how will it work? The full name of CNAP is ‘Caller Name Presentation’. This service is more advanced than the current ‘Caller ID’. Identification of real name: Till now people used to change their name on many apps, but in CNAP, the same name will be visible which was given in the Customer Acquisition Form (CAF) i.e. Aadhaar or other ID proof while taking SIM. Security from fraud: It will now be very easy to identify fake calls (Spam Calls) coming from unknown numbers, so that users can protect themselves from online fraud. Will be able to. Attention to privacy: Initially the companies had opposed it citing privacy, but now it is being made mandatory from the security point of view. Talk will happen even if there is no network: Vo-WiFi service also started. BSNL has also recently launched its Vo-WiFi (Voice over Wi-Fi) service. This is a boon for those who live in areas where the mobile network is extremely weak. Calling without SIM network: If your phone has Wi-Fi connectivity, you will be able to make high-quality voice calls even without a mobile tower. No missed calls: Now BSNL users will not miss important calls even in low-network areas like basements or high mountains.
