Two Chinese citizens have again been targeted in Pakistan. Bullets were fired at both of them in Karachi on Tuesday. This is the new episode in the series of attacks on Chinese citizens in Pakistan. Police and hospital have confirmed this incident. After this, questions are again being raised regarding the security of Chinese citizens in Pakistan. It is said that the condition of both the injured is very serious. It is noteworthy that China's Ambassador to Pakistan has also expressed concern about the attacks on Chinese citizens there. Besides, the need for better security measures has also been emphasized.
A police officer named Faizan Ali has given information about the incident. Complete details about the incident are not yet available. According to the spokesperson of Liaquat National Hospital, the condition of both the injured is critical and their treatment is going on. This is not the first time that Chinese citizens have been attacked in Pakistan. Earlier in October, two Chinese citizens were killed in a suicide attack while 10 others were injured. The banned Balochistan Liberation Army had taken responsibility for this blast near Karachi Airport.
Apart from this, five Chinese engineers died in March. All of them were victims of suicide attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Since the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor began nearly a decade ago, 21 Chinese citizens have lost their lives in such attacks. China's Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zedong has condemned these incidents. He has also demanded strict action against anti-China terrorist groups. During a seminar, the Chinese Ambassador said that the security of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is a matter of concern. He had also appealed to Pakistan to take necessary steps for the safety of Chinese citizens.
